Rebecca Kahn, Ph.D., MS, is an Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer with the CDC. Prior to this, she served as a senior scientist in the CDC’s Center for Forecasting and Outbreak Analytics. She is also a Visiting Scientist in the Center for Communicable Disease Dynamics at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy and Global Health from Duke University, Dr. Kahn worked with the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief in the U.S. State Department’s Office of the Global AIDS Coordinator. She then worked for Partners In Health in Sierra Leone on the Ebola response and health systems strengthening programs. Dr. Kahn earned her Master of Science in Epidemiology and her Doctor of Philosophy in Population Health Sciences and Epidemiology from Harvard University. She was also a 2019 Emerging Leaders in Biosecurity Fellow through the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security. In 2020, Dr. Kahn worked as an ORISE fellow in the modeling unit of the CDC’s COVID-19 response. Her research focuses on using infectious disease modeling to enhance epidemic preparedness and response.
