Samantha Leav is the Director of State Policy of Data Science 4 Everyone, a national initiative and coalition based at the University of Chicago. Prior to DS4E, Samantha served as the mathematics principal consultant with the Illinois State Board of Education, leading projects such as Illinois’s transitional math and the adoption of the computer science standards. Samantha was also a school district curriculum coach and classroom mathematics teacher serving 6-12 students in Indiana and Illinois. While in the classroom, Samantha supported school district initiatives to help at-risk students. Samantha holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics education from Western Illinois University and a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
