In June 2022, data.org, in partnership with the Patrick J. McGovern Foundation and Dalberg, released Workforce Wanted, a data talent for social impact report. This first-of-its-kind report on global data talent in the social sector explored systemic challenges, highlighted immediate opportunities, and identified pathways forward in building the data for good sector.
The key finding from Workforce Wanted? We have the unprecedented opportunity to cultivate 3.5 million data for social impact professionals in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) over the next ten years.
Now, one year later, data.org brings together the voices of those who have been key in building the field of data for social impact through data.org’s Capacity Accelerator Network. Moderated by data.org’s Chief Data and Technology Officer, Uyi Stewart, Ph.D., our Workforce Wanted: One Year of Growing Global Data Talent panel dives deeper into the steps taken since the Workforce Wanted report’s debut, lessons learned one year into growing the data for social good sector, and what challenges and opportunities year two presents.
